HIS DREAM IS TO MAKE BASSMASTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONS: Bill Siemantel

Updated: Apr 15, 2021

Bill Siemantel is an author, award-winning lure designer, tournament angler, and industry consultant, all of which have led to his induction into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame as a Legendary Angler. His passion is his "Big Bass Zone Junior Championship" - a tournament that crowns a high school angler as champion of each state and culminates in a tournament to name a Junior National Champion. To make it all happen, he has partnered with Bassmaster and a number of other national sponsors.

As a family man and 27-year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department, Bill somehow found the time to carve out a second career as a tournament angler at the local, regional and national level, including winning Bassmaster's 1997 Arizona Western Invitational at Lake Powell. He has been a pioneer in fishing big bass with swimbaits, has co-authored an award-winning book “The Big Bass Zone” and designed some cutting edge lures.

Like many of us, Bill wants to contribute to bringing the next generation into the sport. To do this, he has been the driving force for the Bass Cat Boats Big Bass Zone Junior Championship presented by Bassmasters This tournament is geared for young anglers looking to pursue a career as a Bass Pro. To do that, you first need to win your state for a shot at standing on a national stage with a prize package of $300,000.
